Brandon Alexander Boyd

Hello there...

Welcome to my website. Allow me to introduce myself. I'm Brandon Boyd, a computer nerd, lifelong musician, and a soon to be CSU Channel Islands graduate with a bachelors in Computer Science.

All the Details...

I am a long time SoCal native, originally from beautiful town of Ojai. I spent much of my childhood studying music, tinkering with computers and yearning to escape the small town life for anywhere else. I graduated Nordhoff High School in 2014 and began my extensive college career.

I initially studied at Santa Barbara City College from 2014 through the beginning of the pandemic in 2020, taking a wide variety of courses in many different topics with my eyes loosely focused on a CS degree. I spent much of that time taking active roles in the music department, playing the lead in both the Lunch Break Big Band and the New World Jazz Ensemble from 2016 until the world shut down.

With this life altering event I felt it was time to move on, not just because of the lack of a band to tie me down, and transferred with 2 Associates degrees to my final college here at CSU Channel Islands. Since arriving there I buckled down and powered through my course work to achieve the goal I set myself so long ago. I've taken courses in Computer Architecture, Software Development, Analysis of Algorithms and both Operating and Embedded Systems. I've also taken some other unrelated, but nonetheless interesting, courses in Music History,  Math in Fine Arts and Music Performance, just to add to my already overwhelming course load.

In my final semester I found that I only had upper division electives remaining. This allowed me to pick subjects that interested me. I eventually settled on Database Theory and Design, Computer Networks and a new pilot program. This new program is simply labelled "Advanced Topics in Computing," which in actuality is a graduate course on Machine Learning. I got special approval from the professor, the at the time department head, to take this class as an undergrad and have it fill my final degree requirement. Kind of a cool way to end my student career.

As of January 12th, 2024 I have received the confirmation that I have earned my degree in Computer Science. After many long years of work I finished the goal I set out to achieve all those years ago and have finally graduated. With that completed I am now ready to move forward to put that degree to use and forge a future for myself.
